The Top 4 Worst Ever Wedding Flower Tips from the Internet
The internet is your friend. When planning a wedding you simply can’t live without the tried and true stalwarts of the wedding world; sites and blogs like The Knot, Wedding Wire, Style Me Pretty, and of course Martha. But there are a few duds out there. I’m not going to call them out here, but I’ll just anonymously share some of their worst advice. Where do they get this stuff? They clearly didn’t interview any florists before writing these clunkers. Dud Number 1 “Try to hav

Moody, Boho Wedding Shoot at Rivercrest Farm
I was so lucky to work with this talented team for an amazing styled photoshoot at Rivercrest Farm in Dover, Ohio. Planned and organized by Ashley Anderson of Ash&Oak Planning, I hope you enjoy this video by NB Photography. The shoot featured our model Katherine making her entrance on the grand staircase in the Rivercrest barn. She then joined her “groom”, Russ, at the romantic sweetheart table styled with soft fabric, greenery, and flowers in retro glass bottles. Then on to

A Conservatory Wedding at Gervasi Vineyard in Canton, Ohio
Dana and Andrew planned an intimate ceremony in the Conservatory at Gervasi Vineyard followed by a wedding dinner in the wine cellar at the Gervasi Bistro. Dana planned her whole wedding long-distance so she trusted Garden by the Gate to understand her vision. When we finally met on her wedding day I felt like I’d always known her! Dana wanted to feel surrounded by flowers so I added delicate flowers to the hanging baskets of ferns that were already in the conservatory. She w

Tropicals are Trending for Weddings
For 2019 Weddings, one big trend we see is the use of tropical flowers and foliages. Since they come in almost any color, tropical flowers can be included with any color scheme. Weddings using tropical flowers do not necessarily have an island feel or rainforest vibe; tropicals can be used in tandem with many kinds of flowers and incorporated into many wedding styles. For an elegant look, tropicals are your go to. There’s nothing more elegant than a bouquet of white Phalaenop

Gorgeous Golf Club Wedding
Everyone had a blast at this May 2018 outdoor wedding at Sable Creek Golf Course in Hartville, near Canton & Akron, Ohio. Can you tell it rained all day and all night? Well, it stopped raining just long enough for the wedding ceremony and for Livigni Photography to grab these great shots of all the fun. No one’s spirits were dampened by the rain; joy, love, and faith were evident throughout the festivities. The wedding feel was romantic, elegant, and fresh with a blush, white

Vintage, yet Trendy Wedding Flowers
Ally and Brodie are just the sweetest couple and their wedding at the family property in Millersburg, Ohio, was truly swoon-worthy. From the bride’s long-sleeved dress in horizontal patterned lace to the use of succulents throughout, every detail was carefully thought out. The painterly skies that threatened rain only added to the drama as you can see in these exquisite images by Eliot & Company. Ally’s vision for her florals was spot on. I’m always amazed by the way our brid

Wedding Flowers in Pantone’s Color of the Year Ultra Violet
The year 2018 had just begun and Kalynn and Quinn chose UltraViolet as their color scheme for their February wedding at Cleveland’s Nautica complex, Window on the Rivers. Working with their color scheme, the Garden by the Gate created centerpieces with the most gorgeous purple hydrangeas, supplied by Canton Wholesale Floral, as the focal flower. We use a lot of white hydrangeas in our work here at the Garden by the Gate Floral Design, because they are fairly cheap flowers; bu

Royal Wedding Trends: Love ’em or Leave ’em?
Today’s historic wedding of Britain’s Prince Harry to his American princess, Meghan Markle, was brimming with special moments, great style, and historic firsts. As always with such events, it is sure to generate a profusion of admiring imitators and affect wedding style trends the world over. Which of these budding trends will blossom into full-blown fads? Do You Really Want Cheap Wedding Flowers?
We all want a good deal. That’s why we search for cheap airline tickets and end up on the Cheapo Airlines site (I’m not making that up!). But all the tickets put you on the same flight, so what’s the difference? On my last flight, I paid extra to get a seat in the middle of the plane, on the aisle. I got bumped to a different flight and guess what? Last row. Against the window. Right in front of the bathroom. Yep, not the same at all. But I still got to Chicago on time. Flowe

A Rivercrest Farm Wedding for Flower Lovers
It’s truly a pleasure for us to work with a bride and her family who LOVE flowers! It is particularly poignant that their love of flowers was fostered and shared by a loving husband and father. In his memory, the bride carried a single tiny sunflower, his favorite, in her bouquet. Carissa chose an awesome ombré color scheme that ran from palest blush to coral to rich cherry pink. Getting the colors right might have been a challenge but Karen, our representative at Mayesh Cle

Faith, Hope, & Family Farm Love
This lovely celebration took place under an expansive white tent on the family farm. Baskets of baby’s breath led the way from the parking field along a lane, past the chicken coop, and under a swoon-worthy arbor. Mason jars filled with blush and white flowers graced the tables. A hay-wagon piled with sweets and beverages beckoned and as night fell Swedish fire logs cast a magical glow on the party.

Heavenly Hilltop Wedding
It was a heavenly day for a hilltop wedding at Rivercrest Farm near Dover, Ohio. Sweet bride Nicole planned a lovely rustic wedding with the help of the One Fine Day folks at Rivercrest and the Garden by the Gate was thrilled to provide the home-grown flowers for bouquets, centerpieces, and ceremony decor. Nicole’s bridesmaids wore lovely chiffon dresses in various pastel shades, so we made the bouquets mostly white with a few touches of color. Nicole’s bouquet incorporated a
